In 1848 William was named guardian of his siblings after his mother Eliza died. Their names are frequently in the court records of Hickman County since William was required to make a periodic guardianship report. Many of the family members did not live long. I've theorized tuberculosis since Eliza Jane Dacus Bugg was identified as dying of it in the 1860 mortality schedule.
